Oxford University’s “Lest We Forget” campaign (of which Oxfordshire FHS is a supporter) is running a collection (in the bring and digitise sense) event at Cheney School in the afternoon of Friday 10th November.

Apologies for any confusion that our recent post might cause or have caused.
John’s post about the Woking Fair got held up in our system and its release, albeit with the publication date of 27 Oct, might lead you think the Fair is this coming Saturday (7 Nov) whereas it was last Saturday (31 Oct). There will be another one along next year!
Apologies again for any confusion we may have caused, Malcolm (OFHS Chairman)
On Monday, 26 October 2015, Clive Hurst will talk to Oxfordshire FHS on:
The Cheney Archives – a record of a well-known Banbury printing firm over two centuries
Clive Hurst will be giving an overview, based on photographs, of the Cheney material which has in recent times been purchased by the Bodleian Library in Oxford. This was an important printing firm, based in Banbury, with origins in the 18th century. Clive Hurst will be following the history of the firm through to its closure at the end of the 20th century. The bulk of the archive comprises a fairly comprehensive series of albums containing samples of the firm’s jobbing printing from the second half of the 19th century.
We meet at the Exeter Hall, Oxford Road, Kidlington, OX5 1AB, with the talk starting at 8:00pm. Doors open at 7:15pm, when there will be advisors offering computer and genealogy help, books for sale, and tea and coffee available.
Non-members are very welcome.
