The following announcement by Robert Curphey of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) might be relevant to those with cricketing ancestors……
We are delighted to announce that MCC’s Online Catalogue, containing over 20,000 fully searchable records and images from our museum, library and archive collections is available on Lords.org at http://mcc.adlibhosting.com/
The online archive component contains records related to Club administration, finance, estates and grounds, as well as laws, matches and touring files. Items available to view online include the minutes of the MCC Committee from 1826, original scorecards and scorebooks of MCC and England tours, MCC matches and matches at Lord’s, scrapbooks compiled by names synonymous with cricket such as Pelham Warner and Gubby Allen, and audio interviews.
The archive also holds records from organisations affiliated with MCC and Lord’s, such as Middlesex County Cricket Club, Test and County Cricket Board (now ECB), International Cricket Council, Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers and The Cricketer Magazine.
I have compiled a collection-level description of our archive holdings which can be found on the AIM25 website at http://www.aim25.ac.uk by searching for ‘Marylebone Cricket Club’.
Researchers can use archive material at the MCC Library, which is open by appointment to researchers on non-match days throughout the year. Researchers are advised to contact the MCC Library prior to arranging a visit, as the archive is in the process of being catalogued and staff can provide information about the area of research you are interested in. Please contact the MCC Library at email@example.com or telephone 0207 616 8559.
